Car parking is available in the Public Car Park, located to the left of the Bob Champion building.

Phlebotomy is the process of making a puncture in a vein—usually in the arm—with a cannula to draw blood. The procedure itself is known as venepuncture. Suitable for those needing an updateor those new to Venepuncture wishing to perform Phlebotomy on patients. 

The training is held in the Clinical Skills Lab, located on the ground floor of the Training Centre at NNUH (Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital). 

Assessment; Post-training clinical competency in the workplace. Practices will need to ensure appropriate clinical supervision is undertaken by learners in the practice environment post training including clinical competency sign off and annual review.

Duration

  • 2 hours, online e-Learning dependant on your learning style - to be completed prior to booking. 
  • 2.5-hour practical skills classroom workshop.

Who Should Attend

  • New to Venepuncture: Must complete both the e-Learning and in-person workshop.
  • Update Course: May complete the e-Learning only.
  • Eligibility: For those performing phlebotomy on patients aged 16+, both components are required.
