Course Content:-

This session will give you the knowledge, understanding and awareness required when taking venous blood samples from Adult patients.

It will prepare you in anticipation of undertaking clinically supervised practice with your employing organisation.

Topics covered will include:

  • Understanding and awareness of the circulatory system
  • Safe use of the Sarstedt-Monovette blood collection system
  • Supervised practice using realistic manikins
  • Action to be taken in the event of a needle stick injury
  • Importance of patient identification (Wrong blood in tube [WBIT] Never Events)
  • Contraindications/considerations of venous blood sampling
