This training module helps healthcare staff build confidence and competence when working with LGBTQ+ patients and colleagues. Participants will learn key terms and concepts around sexual orientation and gender identity, explore the history and symbols of the LGBTQ+ community, and understand barriers that can impact access to care, such as discrimination, fear of disclosure, and exclusion.
The session provides practical advice for respectful communication, correct pronoun use, and creating safe environments where all feel welcome. It also explains key UK legal protections, including the Equality Act and Gender Recognition Act, supporting staff to deliver inclusive and person-centred care.
