Aim

To enable dental professionals and practice leaders to understand, manage, and embed compliance, risk, and regulation into everyday practice in a proactive, sustainable way.

Objectives 

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand what compliance really means beyond policies and paperwork
  • Explain the CQC’s regulatory approach, including the Five Key Questions and Fundamental Standards
  • Understand the Single Assessment Framework and how evidence is evaluated
  • Identify how safety, effectiveness, caring, responsiveness, and leadership link together
  • Recognise their individual responsibility in maintaining compliance
  • Embed a culture of compliance, ownership, and continuous improvement within the team
  • Prepare and maintain meaningful evidence for CQC inspections

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the purpose and principles of compliance in dental practice
  • Explain the structure of the CQC Single Assessment Framework
  • Demonstrate how evidence, audits, and quality indicators support inspection outcomes
  • Apply risk management principles across key safety areas, including IPC, sharps, medicines, safeguarding, and risk assessments
  • Recognise how effective leadership and culture underpin compliance
  • Contribute confidently to inspection readiness and ongoing quality improvement
  • Shift compliance from a reactive, tick-box task to an embedded team behaviour
